Boba Cafe

One of the most unique experiences you can find in Las Cruces is dining at the Boba Cafe. I say unique because the Boba Cafe offers the only dinner cabaret in the city. Besides the entertainment experience, Boba Cafe offers a wide range of entrees and I can’t forget to mention, they serve Boba Tea.

Boba tea, or bubble tea, is a beverage consisting of flavored tea containing tapioca pearls, or boba. The tiny bobas have the texture of rubber and take on the flavor of the tea. Boba Cafe offers a variety of fruity flavors of boba teas. My favorite boba tea is the mango with soy milk. You can either order your boba tea with soy milk or without.

Boba Cafe has a great entertainment lineup. You can catch musical performances, plays, and comedy shows. I suggest you arrive early for the cabaret performances because they are always packed.

The menu at Boba Cafe has soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. You may want to ask for a few extra minutes when ordering because there is so much to choose from. Last week during my visit, I ordered the California Club. It consisted of turkey, bacon, avocado spread, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato on a croissant. The highlight of the sandwich is the croissant, it was warm, buttery, and flaky. You also have your choice of sides such as: cole slaw, french fries, salad, or potato chips.

Mesilla Valley Kitchen

There’s no question which restaurant in Las Cruces serves up the best breakfast. With a burrito on the menu called the ‘Hangover’ burrito, there’s no doubt that Mesilla Valley Kitchen is the place to go to after a night on the town.

Located in the Arroyo Plaza shopping center, Mesilla Valley Kitchen serves up both Breakfast and Lunch entrees. The inside of the restaurant has gone through a makeover in the last year or so. MVK is heavily promoting their famous ‘Hangover’ burrito with t-shirts hanging from the ceiling to large murals that say, “Home of the Hangover Burrito.” It still has that same feel that it used to have with a few touch ups.

Even though they are home of the ‘Hangover’ burrito, MVK should be home of the best pecan pancakes in Las Cruces. When visiting MVK, you have to order a side of pancakes with your order. They’re fluffy, golden, and the pecans add a taste of Las Cruces.

During my visit this weekend, I ordered the Carne Adovada breakfast plate. It comes with two eggs any style, a side of beans and spuds, cheese, and a flour tortilla. This dish is a great alternative when not ordering a ‘Hangover’ burrito. The servings are huge and leave you satisfied. I saved enough room for a side of Pecan Cakes!

You can visit Mesilla Valley Kitchen online at http://www.mesillavalleykitchen.com/

Mesilla Valley Kitchen is open Monday - Saturday 6:00am to 2:30pm and Sundays 7:00am to 1:30pm. Breakfast and Lunch is served all day.

Mesilla Valley Kitchen is located on 2001 East Lohman Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88001.

Burger Nook

In honor of the New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail, I decided to blog about my favorite spot in Las Cruces to grab a cheeseburger. You still have time to vote for your favorite Green Chile Cheeseburger at NM Green Chile Cheeseburger Ballot. Voting ends March 31st at 4:00pm.

There are only a few places in Las Cruces that know how to cook a cheeseburger, and this is my favorite. I like my cheeseburgers greasy, cheesy, and loaded with green chile. That’s how they should be!

The Burger Nook is located in a little shopping center off of Solano and East Madrid. I call this area the ‘Hole in the Wall Area’ of Las Cruces because there are restaurants on this side of town that you would have never heard of unless you were from the city or by word of mouth. Also, these are some of the best restaurants in all of Las Cruces!

Definitely avoid going to the Burger Nook if you are in a hurry and need to be somewhere at a certain time or during the lunch rush hour. The Burger Nook is always packed and not only do they take orders in person, their phone is always ringing with phone orders! Expect your Burger Nook experience to last about an hour, this includes ordering, waiting, and eating.

The wait is DEFINITELY worth it! I actually went during the lunch rush hour today and ordered a Double Meat Great Burger with Green Chile and Cheese with a side of fries. It was delicious and I would go back for seconds, but was full after taking that whole burger down! The menu consists of hamburger sliders, regular sized hamburgers, hot dogs, burritos, tacos, french fries, and onion rings.

Burger Nook is open Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm and closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Burger Nook is located on 1204 East Madrid Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88001.
